Degen Blackjack — Rules, Basic Strategy & House Edge

Game Overview
Degen Blackjack runs on a 6-deck shoe with standard Vegas rules: dealer stands on hard 17 and soft 17. You’re playing against the house—not against other players—so your only goal is beating the dealer’s hand. It’s the closest thing to a beatable casino game because your decisions matter. Unlike roulette, blackjack has skill embedded in it.
How to Play
House Edge & the Power of Strategy
Blackjack is the only casino game where strategy actually reduces the house advantage. Using perfect basic strategy brings the edge down to around 0.4%—roughly 6x better than roulette. This doesn’t guarantee you’ll win, but it guarantees you won’t leave money on the table through poor decisions.
When to Double Down
Hard Totals (No Ace, or Ace Counted as 1)
Double on 11 against dealer 2-10. Double on 10 against dealer 2-9. Double on 9 against dealer 3-6. This maximizes expected value when the odds favor you and the dealer’s weak card is showing.
Soft Totals (Ace Counted as 11)
Double on soft 18 (Ace-7) against dealer 3-6. Double on soft 17 (Ace-6) against dealer 3-6. Double on soft 15-16 against dealer 4-6. Soft hands are flexible—you can’t bust on the next card, so doubling when the dealer is weak gains expected value safely.
Splitting Pairs: The Rules
Always Split
Aces and 8s. Two aces give you two chances at 21 or high cards. Two 8s total 16 (terrible) but split into two hands with 8 each and better upside.
Never Split
5s and 10s. Two 5s (10 total) should be doubled instead. Two 10s (20 total) already beats most dealer outcomes—don’t risk splitting a winning hand.
Split Based on Dealer Card
Split 2s and 3s against dealer 4-7. Split 6s against dealer 3-6. Split 7s against dealer 2-7. Split 9s against dealer 2-9 (not 7). These are the nuances that separate card players from button-mashers.
Provably Fair Verification
Degen Blackjack uses a shuffled 6-deck shoe with provable fairness. The shuffle algorithm and deck composition are verifiable post-hand. You can confirm that no cards were removed, no decks were swapped, and the shuffle wasn’t manipulated. This prevents the house from stacking shoes in real-time.
